They may have dominated much of the fixture on Tuesday evening, but it turned out to be a frustrating night for Julien Stephan and his Queens Park Rangers team. Only one away shot on target was allowed, but that slipped into the back of the net and a wasteful Queens Park Rangers missed a number of decent openings to turn a point into three.

Dropping home points has meant Queens Park Rangers have fallen back into mid-table, but the Championship is a tight, competitive Division and the 21 points means they are right on the edge of the Play Off positions. Improving the 3-3-1 record at Loftus Road in the final match before the November international break has to be the sole focus this weekend.

Queens Park Rangers were held to a 1-1 draw by Burnley a few days ago and that means they have won 1 of the last 4 League games, while suffering a couple of defeats. It is a result that has extended the home unbeaten run to 4 League games, but Queens Park Rangers were not quite able to make it 3 successive victories in front of the home supporters.

Lincoln City

Over sixty years have passed since Lincoln City last played in the second tier of English Football and this is very much seen as a season of consolidation for the club. A decade ago, Lincoln City were playing in the National League, but they have made a steady climb up the League pyramid and being guided by joint-Head Coaches.

It has been a difficult month between the two Autumn international breaks and Lincoln City have fallen down to 17th in the Championship table, although they remain 5 points clear of the bottom three. The surprise is that The Imps have earned the majority of the League points away from home where they have a 3-1-3 record in this Division.

Lincoln City have not only won 1 of the last 7 games in the Championship, but they have been beaten 5 times in that run, including back to back defeats over the last seven days. On Tuesday they were losing 1-0 at Vicarage Road and that result means Lincoln City have picked up a single point from the last 3 away League games played.

Head to Head

The last time Queens Park Rangers and Lincoln City played one another was in the League Cup back in January 1972, which ended in a big home win for QPR.

They are in the same Division for the first time since the 1961/62 season when both played in the third tier.

Prediction

There has to be a respect for Lincoln City considering the form that they have displayed this season after earning promotion from League One, although joint-Head Coaches Tom Shaw and Chris Cohen will have work to do through the next international break.

The overall record is solid enough, but Lincoln City have been sliding having been beaten in 5 of the last 7 Championship games.

On Tuesday they were beaten in a poor game at Watford, which is concerning as the latter are one of the teams currently below Lincoln City in the standings. A bit of balance has been lost recently and The Imps could be vulnerable to a Queens Park Rangers team that have been creating a lot of chances at home.

Wasteful finishing let them down on Tuesday (and let us down with that being the sole selection from the Championship during the week), but Queens Park Rangers created enough chances and limited Burnley to very little.

Performances like that will lead to a lot more wins than losses, especially at home, and Queens Park Rangers are capable of exploiting some of the problems Lincoln City have had at the back.

Before the 1-0 defeat to Watford, Lincoln City had conceded at least twice in 6 straight Championship games and Queens Park Rangers will likely create enough opportunities to match that number on their way to three points ahead of the latest international break.
