Jose Mourinho back at Chelsea ... will it be a successful return?
Chelsea (England)
Yes we know, The Special One got the win over his old club 2-1, but that also means an away goal for the London club, along with only the narrowest lead for Inter. We have already seen a London club overturn a slim deficit at the expense of a river of Portugese tears, so why bet against the same happening here eh?
Chelsea can be rightly miffed at not being level in this tie. They have a penalty not given, when it should have been, and who knows what would have happened if that had been given. As it happened, it wasn't, and after a lucky Kalou equaliser, Inter sneaked in to get the winner and the narrow lead to take into this game.
Chelsea warmed up for this tie with a 4-1 thumping of West Ham United. The main danger man, Drogba, scored yet another brace to take his tally to some silly number quite close to Rooney's and looks a shoe-in to score against Inter Milan. Chelsea NEED to score here, that's a given. So expect them to not sit back and wait, and instead pour forward and try to give Jose's Inter all they can handle.
But wait, a quick look at the back tells us that Cech is still not in Goal! Gasp! And also missing, is Hilario, not that he will be missed, what with being Mr. Magoo! The keeper for this game is a Ross Turnbull. Still want to stick money on Chelsea? Thought not.
Inter Milan (Italy)
Inter Milan are priced as underdogs. Can you believe that? They are a giant of a team, and are playing a Chelsea side that has been really wobbly of late, but only in England can you get these prices. Snap it up quick.
Yes, Inter warmed up for this match with a 3-1 loss in Serie A to Catania. But, Mourinho knows this Chelsea team inside out. Heck, he probably has more players loyal to him than current manager Ancelotti! Yes, the first tie should have ended level, but he is ahead, and a manager like him should surely be counted on to not lose here, what with his ego being the size of Knightsbridge.
I think Jose will settle for a draw here, which looks like the likeliest outcome, although I will say, with the gung-ho attitude bound to be utilised by Chelsea, there will probably be goals at both ends!
Jose has a point to prove here, and while he's half-achieved his goal after the first leg win, he really must knock out his old club here in order to effectively do a Nelson style "Ha Ha". Ancelotti, the old AC Milan manager stands in his way, and this is just another reason to make sure his side doesn't lose. I wouldn't bet against him. Not with your money either.
The Betting Verdict :
C'mon people, it's Jose! I don't want you to think he's arrogant or anything, but he really is kind of special. You just don't want to bet against him and be proved wrong, do you?
I reckon Chelsea will try and get goals here, and while they will score, they will concede at the back, what with Terry being a bit shaky.
Yes, we know you're still Chelsea captain, we saw the band, but we really don't care. Get past the Italians and then we'll talk. Get ready for a few goals, with Chelsea narrowly missing out on the quarters.
