It’s a quick trip over to Finland now as I turn my attentions to FC Honka when they take on second from bottom club in the Veikkausliiga, Rovaniemi (RoPS).
Honka currently sit in a comfortable mid-table position but they’ll be eyeing off all three points tonight as they entertain a RoPS side who have won just once on the road this season to date. Honka’s recent results have been a little indifferent of late with defeats against KuPS and VPS 0-2 and 0-3 respectively, but bear in mind that both of these matches were away from their Tapiolan ground.
Their home record stands at a more consistent 2-2-1 8/6 and they’re unbeaten in their last four on home turf with wins over Inter Turku 3-1 and FC Lahti 1-0 along with points against 4th placed Jaro FF and fellow mid-table dwellers Mariehamn.
Their possible anytime goalscorer looks like Porokara (6 goals) and his last 3 goals have all been scored at home.
RoPS
Visitors RoPS ended a miserable run of four consecutive defeats last time out when they beat Jaro 2-1 at home which opened up a four point lead over bottom club Turku PS, but it’s their away form which interests us all for this pick as they’ve lost their last three on the trot on the road.
Defeats at KuPS 0-1, FC Lahti 0-1 and VPS 0-2 is not ideal preparation for a trip to Honka, while their overall away record stands at 1-0-4 2/6 - their one success so far was at bottom club Turku PS by the way in a 2-0 win.
The visitors have not scored in any of their other away matches to date, and with goalscoring being a problem on the road, they look like they’ll be up against it again this evening.
THE BETTING VERDICT:
FC Honka have a great opportunity to catch up to the likes of FC Lahti, Jaro and VPS with a win today, and my recommended pick for this one is give the quarter ball on the hosts. Could be a 2-1 win for Honka.
