Football: Italy Serie A
18th February 2019 – Kickoff time 20:30 [Rome, Italy Time]
Introduction :
Monday Night Football comes from the Stadio Olimpico as AS Roma sixth in Serie A welcomes the visit of an out-of-form Bologna side currently in 17th spot.
Roma are chasing a top four spot while the visitors have won just one of their last 16 matches in Serie A and are just above the relegation zone at the moment.
AS Roma
Manager Eusebio Di Francesco was pleased that AS Roma managed to beat bottom club 3-0 in their last match to ease the pressure on his side.
Before that AS Roma blew a three goal lead to just managed a point in a 3-3 draw with Atalanta before losing 7-1 at Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia, which has put the pressure on his shoulders. They are currently in sixth spot but are just one point off the top four.
AS Roma have managed four wins in their last six home games. In their last three home games, they beat Sassuolo 3-1, beat Torino 3-2 and drew with AC Milan 1-1.
The player to watch here will be Edin Dzeko as the Bosnian International has scored three goals in his last three Serie A matches and he seems to be finally finding his form now.
Bologna:
Bologna recently managed a 1-0 win over Inter Milan to end a run of 14 league games without a win, but despite the win they are still just above the relegation with the same number of points as Empoli with 18 points.
In their last match Bologna drew with Genoa 1-1 at home so they need to avoid defeat here if they do not want to fall into the bottom three now.
Bologna have won just once in their last six away games. In their last three away games, they lost to Napoli 3-2, drew with SPAL 1-1 and beat Inter Milan 0-1.
The player to watch for them will be Paraguayan striker Federico Santander who has scored six goals for them this season. He scored against Roma this season and was also on target in matches against Inter and Napoli.
Past Meetings:
When they met in September Bologna stunned AS Roma by 2-0 at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara back with goals coming from Federico Mattiello and Federico Santander. For the record, Roma have won just three of the last seven meetings between the sides.
The Pick:
Roma should win but the odds of 1.44 are too low to chase. I expect plenty of goals so will take a goals total bet.
