Leicester City
The appointment of Brendan Rodgers looks an exciting one made by Leicester City, but it is going to take a little bit of time for his methods to really take hold at the club. There was a scary situation for Rodgers personally when hearing his home in Glasgow had been broken into while his wife and step-daughter were inside, but thankfully no one was hurt and Rodgers can return to focusing on preparing his Leicester City team for his first game in charge at the King Power Stadium.
Last weekend Leicester City were unlucky in their 2-1 defeat at Watford, but it is a result that leaves them in 11th place in the Premier League table and 8 points behind 7th place Wolves. The 5-2-7 record at the King Power Stadium is not really good enough for Leicester City fans who have seen their team score 16 goals and concede 18 in those games.
Leicester City have won 1 of their last 9 games in all competitions and the late defeat at Vicarage Road means they have lost 4 of their last 5. That win did come in their last home game against Brighton which was the first after the sacking of Claude Puel and also helped Leicester City snap a run of 4 consecutive defeats at the King Power Stadium.
Jamie Vardy came off with a knock last Sunday, but looks to have been passed fit for this one.
Fulham
A new manager has taken over at Fulham after the club called time on the Claudio Ranieri experiment with relegation staring them in the face. Scott Parker was a part of the staff under Ranieri, but he is calling the shots now and the Fulham players responded in a positive performance against Chelsea, but one that ultimately saw them come up short again.
The 1-2 defeat leaves Fulham in 19th place in the Premier League table and they are 10 points behind Southampton with 9 games left to play. The Cottagers are the only team in the Premier League who have yet to win an away game this season and their 0-2-13 record where they have scored 9 goals and conceded 37 is the main reason Fulham are in the bottom three.
Fulham have now lost 9 of their last 10 games in all competitions including the last 5 in a row heading into this weekend. The side have lost their last 5 away games in the Premier League and the goals being conceded ultimately cost Ranieri his job as manager of the club. In those defeats Fulham conceded 13 goals and at least two per game.
Andre Schurrle is expected to miss out and return in time for the home game with Liverpool a week on Sunday.
Head to Head
Fulham and Leicester City drew 1-1 at Craven Cottage earlier this season.
Leicester City had not won any of 4 home games against Fulham but they snapped that run with a 4-3 win over them when these teams last met in the East Midlands in October 2013.
Prediction
Brendan Rodgers will lead Leicester City out at the King Power Stadium for the first time on Saturday and his team are big favourites to beat struggling Fulham.
I do think that is the most likely outcome of this fixture despite the visitors also hoping for a new manager bounce effect after removing Claudio Ranieri and giving the interim job to Scott Parker.
Fulham played very well in their 1-2 home loss to Chelsea, but this is a team who are conceding too many goals and you are not going to win too many matches like that. They will likely give it a go with a slim chance still in front of them to get out of the bottom three, but Leicester City should have the fans behind them with a new manager at the helm themselves.
Brendan Rodgers will need some time to get his philosophy and tactics instilled into the players, but Leicester City played well in the first game under his guidance and I think they could have a strong end to the season. Jamie Vardy overcoming a knock is a big boost for Leicester City and I think they will have the goals in the side to earn the victory in this one.
I won't be surprised if Fulham play their part in this one with an attacking intent as they search for the points that can give them a chance of avoiding the drop, but it may play into the hands of the home team and I think Leicester City win a game featuring two or more goals.
