2020-05-30 - Gangwon vs Jeonbuk Motors
A Sports Betting Pick by Auls
Football: South Korea: K League
Saturday 30th May 2020 - Kick Off 4:30pm
British Time: 8:30am
Preview
The defending Champions have set off very well in the 2020 K League season as Jeonbuk Motors look for a fourth win from four games on Saturday. They are the only team in the Division to have maintained a 100% record through the first three weeks of the season and Jeonbuk Motors will want to round of May in the same fashion.
They will be visiting Gangwon on Saturday who have had a mixed start to the season. The side have not been able to follow up the strong opening weekend performance and Gangwon are going to have to dig deep to earn a result in this one.
Gangwon are 7th in the League table having earned 4 points from a possible 9 and they have a 1-1-0 record at home where they have scored 4 goals and conceded 2 in those games. Last season this club finished in the top six so there is some talent here, but Gangwon can't be as inconsistent as they have been in the last couple of weeks.
They have only won 2 of their last 12 games in the League going back to last season and both wins have come at home against Seoul. Gangwon have lost 4 of their last 7 games which will have knocked the confidence from the players and that is not ideal preparation for this kind of fixture.
Playing at home might be a help for Gangwon who have won 4 of their last 7 here. The side had scored at least twice in 6 consecutive games here before drawing 1-1 with Seongnam this past weekend, although it has now been 5 games played since earning a home clean sheet for Gangwon too.
Going up against the defending Champions would be a challenge in normal circumstances, but it might be more difficult behind closed doors and with the current form as it is for Gangwon. Jeonbuk Motors will be looking to put the foot down on the competition by keeping their winning run going, although this is only the second away game of the season for them.
Jeonbuk Motors will be keeping a close eye on how the Asian Champions League will be resumed in 2020, if it is resumed at all, but for now the full focus has to be on the K League. They are unbeaten in 11 games played in the South Korean top flight and Jeonbuk Motors have won 4 in a row going back to last season.
They have been strong away from home in this Division and Jeonbuk Motors are unbeaten in 13 on their travels in the League. Of those games Jeonbuk Motors have won 8 times including a 1-2 win at Busan I'Park to open the 2020 season.
Gangwon had lost 3 straight home games against Jeonbuk Motors, but they did draw the second game between them here in 2019 in a 3-3 thriller.
Prediction
The Jeonbuk Motors are odds on favourites to win here after opening the season with three victories from three games played.
That might appeal to one or two punters looking to add to their accumulators, but Gangwon are a tough team to play at home and pushed Jeonbuk Motors in both games played here last season.
Gangwon score plenty of goals, but they also concede plenty and that is where my focus lies. Both games between these clubs at this Stadium produced at least five goals last season and I will be looking for Gangwon and Jeonbuk Motors to rally together for at least three goals on Saturday.
The Pick :
Gangwon 2-2 Jeonbuk Motors
