A Sports Betting Pick by ArmchairPunter
Football : Australia : A-League
Venue : Coopers Stadium
Friday 30th April 2021, 1905hrs
Although Adelaide United were handed a 2-1 defeat away from home at Wellington Phoenix last time out in the A-League, they now return to the more familiar surroundings of their Coopers Stadium for this Friday evening’s clash against Western United, and still just one point behind 2nd placed Sydney FC.
Adelaide United have been in pretty steady form since mid-February as Thomas Veart’s side have suffered just two defeats out of their last 11 matches overall which were both away from home at Central Coast Mariners and the aforementioned Wellington Phoenix.
However, at their Coopers Stadium it’s been a very different story for the hosts as they’ve won four of their last five matches amidst an overall record of 6-1-1 14/7 which includes recent wins against Central Coast Mariners, Newcastle Jets, Sydney FC and Macarthur.
Midfielder Mauk and forward Juric (7 goals apiece) look the most likely for Adelaide.
Western United jumped into the top six of the A-League with a 2-0 home win over Newcastle Jets which became the visitor’s third match unbeaten in the Australian top flight and followed a previous 1-0 win over Central Coast Mariners.
Western United have now won five of their last seven matches overall but it’s worth noting that four of these five victories have been achieved on home turf at their GMHBA Stadium where they’ve won six of their total of eight wins to date in this campaign.
However, the visitors have tended not to travel so well this season as their away record of 2-0-5 11/15 perhaps indicates, while the bigger picture shows that Western United have lost six of their last eight games on the road.
The Betting Verdict
Adelaide United will be keen to make home advantage count here and should get over the line with a win.
The Pick :
Adelaide Utd 2-1 Western Utd
