Being involved in a World Cup Qualifying Group where the top Seed would not begin their run until June has given the other nations a chance to earn a 'head start'. That is what Czechia have been able to do in this Qualifying Group, where only one team is guaranteed a spot at the World Cup next summer, and they will be looking for a third win in a row before the big game in Croatia next week.
It is the Croatian national team that are favoured to top the section, but Czechia can shift the pressure onto their hosts on Match Day 4 as long as they can earn another victory on Friday. Anything less may open the door for Croatia as Czechia look to back up their victories over Faroe Islands and Gibraltar to open the section.
Czechia are unbeaten in 7 games in all competitions and will be playing in League A the next time the Nations League comes around. There is some pressure on the team having failed to Qualify for the World Cup Finals since 2006, but this is a nation that has won 7 straight competitive fixtures at home.
Montenegro
Some of the countrymen would have played at the 2006 World Cup when still a part of Serbia, but Montenegro are trying to reach a major international tournament in their own right for the first time. Like Czechia, Montenegro have gotten a start on Croatia by beating the two weakest teams in the Group, although the main target may still be finishing 2nd and earning a Play Off spot at the very least.
The next three Qualifiers will see Montenegro face Czechia twice and Croatia and that may determine their fate in the section, but they may have a bit more confidence after opening this Group with two wins and having finished just 3 points behind Serbia in the Euro 2024 Qualifying Group.
Montenegro have won 3 games in a row in all competitions, but all have been at home and the last couple of wins have been against Gibraltar and Faroe Islands. The team were relegated from League B in the Nations League having finished with 5 losses in 6 Group games, although the exception was the win over Turkiye in the last fixture in that section. Montenegro have lost 5 away competitive fixtures in succession.

These nations last met two years ago in an international friendly and it was Czechia who won 1-4 in Podgorica.

Prediction
Both of these teams have beaten the weakest teams in the section to begin this World Cup Qualifying Group, but it could be the head to head between Czechia and Montenegro that determines the final standings.
Both will expect Croatia to be the main rival for top spot, but finishing 2nd and earning a Play Off spot for the World Cup Finals has to be the minimum target.
Czechia benefit from getting to host this fixture on Match Day 3 and they are certainly going to be confident in having the firepower to get the better of a Montenegro team that have not been the most consistent travellers of late.
The performances in the Nations League suggests there is still some gap between Czechia and Montenegro and the hosts may have too much in the final third as they look to maintain the 100% record in this section.
