There are a number of nations who will be competing in the World Cup Qualifiers, but with little personal expectation of doing much more than making up the numbers. Finishing behind Moldova and Malta in the League D Nations League Group and only earning a point may mean Andorra have little more to achieve than picking up any kind of positive result in this Qualifying Group.

Defeats to Latvia and Albania within this Group in March suggests that even earning 2 points may be asking too much of Andorra right now.

Andorra did beat San Marino in an international friendly, but they have lost 9 of their last 11 games in all competitions. One positive for Andorra to take into this huge test on Match Day 3 of the World Cup Qualifiers is that they have only been beaten by more than two goals in 1 of their last 6 home Qualifying matches played.

England

There is no doubt that the appointment of Thomas Tuchel as manager of the England national team will be judged on how the team performs at the World Cup next summer. 160,000 people turned up at Wembley Stadium across two Qualifiers played in March, but suffice to say the report card would have read 'room for improvement' despite England's relatively comfortable wins over Albania and Latvia.

Finishing top of their Nations League Group has restored England to League A of that competition and also meant they have been able to start their Qualifying campaign and put the pressure on main rivals for top spot Serbia. With Albania set to host Serbia on the same night, England may already feel they have one foot in the next Finals at the end of next week.

England reached the Euro 2024 Final last year before being beaten by a late Spain goal and that saw time called on Gareth Southgate's successful tenure as manager of the national team. The side have won 8 of their last 10 games in all competitions and England will be looking for a third win in a row under their new manager. England have won 8 of their last 11 away Qualifiers, but did draw consecutive away Qualifiers at Ukraine and North Macedonia during the Euro 2024 Qualifying Group.

Thomas Tuchel has called up a strong England team and he is likely going to pick a side with his key players here before rotating for the friendly coming up.

Head to Head

This is the second World Cup Qualifying Group in succession that Andorra and England will face off.

In the 2022 World Cup Qualifying Group, England were 4-0 winners at home and 0-5 winners here.

England have won all 3 visits to Andorra, but they had only scored five goals in the first two games here before the crushing win last time out.

Prediction

The two World Cup Qualifier wins are important to set England on their way to the United States for the World Cup Finals and that is important.

It has to be remembered that the the last time the United States hosted the World Cup Finals, England were not able to Qualify and so that is the main task for Thomas Tuchel and his men.

Of course, that does not mean Tuchel will have ignored some of the criticisms of underwhelming England performances in March and his squad should be capable of a much more impressive attacking display in this one. Some of the key attackers are available this time and England should be able to get close to matching the 0-5 win in Andorra like when they last visited here in 2021.

Andorra deserve some respect considering the competitive results earned in recent home Qualifiers and the weather could be a factor with hot conditions expected at the end of a long season for the English players.

Even then, the qualities of the England team should shine through and they can record a third win in a row in this Group and do so in fine style.
