Football : Europe: Champions League
Venue: Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium
Tuesday 12th August 2025, 1800hrs (GMT)
Fenerbahçe looked for all money to be heading for a hard-earned draw in the Netherlands last week having equalised in the 86th minute but Feyenoords Anis Hadj Moussa had other ideas as he scored what would prove to be the winner in injury time to give the Dutch side a 2-1 lead heading into this return leg on Tuesday night.
Fenerbahçe coach Jose Mourinho looked none too pleased as he watched on from the dug-out and hell be demanding a response from his players on Tuesday night at their Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium as the Turkish club look to overhaul this 2-1 deficit.
Fenerbahçe finished runners-up behind the title winners Galatasaray in last seasons Super Lig campaign and the Turkish hosts also produced an encouraging pre-season which saw them pick up four wins from five games including a notable 1-0 home win against Lazio.
Feyenoord know they are just 90 minutes away from progressing through to the play-off round in the qualifying stage of this competition but he Dutch visitors will also be expecting an intimidating atmosphere at the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium.
Feyenoord coach, Robin van Persie, will be setting his side up in order to frustrate the hosts in a bid to get the partisan home crowd on the backs of their own players, but although Feyenoord also collected a 2-0 home win against NAC Breda in the domestic Eredivisie over the weekend, both recent wins were captured on home soil.
It remains to be seen whether Feyenoord can transfer recent home wins whilst on the road but this Tuesday night will be a tough test for van Persies side despite holding a 2-1 lead.
The Betting Verdict
Fenerbahçe have won two of the previous three competitive meetings and the hosts may just sneak a narrow win here on the night as well.
