Football: Spanish La Liga - Round 11
Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys (Barcelona), Spain
Sunday, 2nd November 2025 - Kick Off 18:30 CET
Barcelona
Barcelona return home determined to get back on track after their narrow 2-1 El Clásico defeat to Real Madrid last weekend. That loss leaves them five points adrift of their rivals at the top, and it came as part of a worrying run that has seen Hansi Flick’s side lose three of their last five games in all competitions. Still, this group has proven resilient before, and a return to the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys could be exactly what they need. The Blaugrana have won 13 of their last 15 La Liga home matches, scoring freely in most of them, and they remain heavy favourites to respond in convincing fashion.
Even with several absentees, Barcelona’s attacking depth should ensure they pose a constant threat. Ferran Torres, who is set to make his 100th La Liga start, will look to mark the occasion in style - especially as he has been directly involved in three goals in as many league meetings against Elche. Expect Flick’s men to dominate possession and push the tempo from the start as they aim to reassert themselves in the title race.
Elche
Elche make the trip to Catalonia, hoping to turn their season back in the right direction after a difficult run of league form. A 1-0 defeat to Espanyol last time out meant it was three La Liga games without a win, and more concerningly, they had failed to find the net in each of their last two. A 4-0 Copa del Rey victory in midweek provided a much-needed morale boost, but maintaining that attacking spark against the reigning champions will be an entirely different challenge.
The newly-promoted side have been competitive so far this season, sitting safely in mid-table, but their away form has been patchy. They have collected only three points from five league trips, conceding crucial goals late on in matches. Rafa Mir remains their key attacking outlet, having directly contributed to most of their points so far, but he’ll need more support if Elche are to test a Barcelona side that rarely concedes at home.
The Betting Verdict
Barcelona’s strong home form and Elche’s lack of firepower on the road make this matchup look one-sided on paper. The hosts should dominate proceedings, especially given their remarkable head-to-head record - unbeaten in 21 league meetings with Elche, including eight straight wins. With Barcelona’s defence expected to tighten up after a few shaky performances and Elche’s recent struggles in front of goal, it’s hard to see the visitors getting on the scoresheet. The value lies in backing Barcelona to win comfortably while keeping a clean sheet.
