Brest will head into this Friday encounter in the French top flight against visitors Monaco with renewed confidence as Eric Roy’s side have posted recent back-to-back wins in Ligue 1 over the likes of Metz and Strasbourg respectively.
These vitally important victories also ended a previously worrying six-game winless streak in the domestic top flight which consisted of three draws along with three defeats, so the hosts may well fancy their chances of getting something out of this upcoming clash at their Stade Francis-Le Ble on Friday night.
Brest still find themselves just five points above the relegation play-off spot though so the hosts will be keen to add further points to their tally in order to lift themselves away from trouble, and a home record which stands at 2-3-2 11/11 gives them a chance of doing just that.
Monaco sit just outside the top six pack in the Ligue 1 table in 7th place and although the visitors recorded an impressive 1-0 home win against PSG last weekend, the victory came at a cost as captain and defender Thilo Kehrer was shown a red card and will miss this upcoming trip to Brest.
Having managed to pick up just two wins within their last six matches in all competitions though, consisting of victories gained over Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League and aforementioned PSG, Sébastien Pocognoli’s side have also been held to a draw as well as being dealt three defeats within this period.
All three defeats were inflicted upon Monaco in Ligue 1 with losses incurred at the hands of Paris FC, Lens and Rennes, the latter two both being by heavy 4-1 margins, while an away record reading 2-1-3 10/13 does not look convincing.
