Football: Spain: La Liga - Round 26
Camp Nou (Barcelona), Spain
Saturday, 28th February 2026 - Kick Off 16:15 CET
Barcelona
Barcelona remain unbeaten at home this season and come into this match with confidence restored after a commanding 3–0 win over Levante. Their response to the Girona setback was sharp and convincing, reaffirming their superiority at the Camp Nou.
Hansi Flick’s side continues to dominate visiting sides through high pressing and fluid combinations between midfield and attack, and the momentum of Flick’s 100th competitive game should add further energy.
Barcelona have been remarkably efficient after half-time in their home fixtures, frequently raising their tempo once space opens. With Fermín López in excellent form, especially at home, the Catalans should again be dangerous between the lines.
The absence of suspended defender Gerard Martín slightly weakens their defensive depth, but their offensive rhythm at home has remained relentless regardless of personnel changes. Expect Barcelona to control possession and generate sustained pressure, though occasional defensive lapses still appear when facing fast, direct opponents.
Villarreal
Villarreal travel in high spirits after winning three of their last four league games, including a recent high-tempo derby win over Valencia. Marcelino’s adjustments have strengthened their attacking transitions, and Villarreal continues to look confident when breaking forward with speed.
However, their struggles against the league’s elite remain a concern, as they have yet to defeat any current top-five side this season.
Defensively, consistency remains an issue, with only two clean sheets in their last 13 league matches. That places significant emphasis on the attacking unit, particularly Ayoze Pérez, who tends to find his scoring touch in away fixtures.
Villarreal have also been excellent starters on the road, frequently opening the scoring thanks to their aggression in the first 20 minutes. Injuries to Juan Foyth and Pape Gueye reduce their defensive stability, yet they still possess enough offensive quality to test Barcelona in open play.
Betting Verdict
This matchup shapes into an entertaining, attack-driven contest. Barcelona’s exceptional home dominance and scoring rhythm suggest they will find the net, but Villarreal’s recent sharpness in attack and their habit of scoring early away make them strong candidates to contribute.
Both teams thrive when the game becomes stretched, and neither backline has been completely reliable against pace and movement this season.
Given Barcelona’s high home scoring rate and Villarreal’s attacking form, and considering the historical pattern of goal-heavy clashes between these sides, the “Both Teams to Score: Yes” angle offers strong value.

When I see the 3rd placed side in a league (in this case Villarreal) paying between 7.00 to 8.00 to win a single game then I'm interested in looking deeper.
The problem is of course that they are facing mighty Barcelona at the Nou Camp, and with a home record of 12-0-0 37:5 so far this season the bookies are desperate to get someone, anyone, to bet on their opponents to help balance the books.
My ratings sheets have Barcelona at 1181`, which is 181 points or almost 2 goals better than the average side in La liga, and although Villareal are rated highly the advantage is still 133 points or 1.33 goals to the home side.
There haven't been many similar games in La Liga with such a strong side, just 14 over the last 25 years, and the home side have won 9 of those games or just 64%.
Barcelona are better than Villarreal, they've won 6 in a row against them at El Madrigal in Villarreal, but surprisingly when at home in the return match the results have split 3/3 with Villarreal winning in each of the last two seasons here by 3-2, and 5-3 score lines.
So given all that, can you understand why I say a wee punt on VILLLAREAL to win at 7.00 at Bet365 or 7.50 at CLoudbet is worth a value play.
It may not win - it's probably only a 20% to 25% chance - but it's definitely very very +EV and as a sports bettor THAT is what we take.
