A Sports Betting Pick by Auls

Nottingham Forest v Tottenham Hotspur
Football: English Premier League
Saturday 5th September 2026 - Kick Off 3pm

Nottingham Forest

They were not quite able to make it a hat-trick of Premier League wins at Anfield, but Oliver Glasner will be very pleased to have gotten Nottingham Forest off the mark in terms of points. The opening week had been difficult, but that result gives the new manager and his squad something to build upon in the three September matches scheduled.

The Tricky Trees will be returning to the City Ground where a late Leeds United goal saw them beaten on the opening weekend, but the draw at Anfield and much of the performance produced is encouraging. Daniel Munoz has been reunited with Oliver Glasner since that result at Liverpool and Nottingham Forest will certainly be expecting more than the 4 home Premier League wins produced last season.

Nottingham Forest actually opened the season with consecutive home defeats to Leeds United in the Premier League and League Cup, while the draw last time out has pushed the winless run to 7 games in all competitions. The side had been unbeaten in 7 at home in all competitions before the 0-1 and 0-2 defeats to Leeds United last month.

Ibrahim Sangare is hoping to be available for selection this weekend.

Tottenham Hotspur

Roberto De Zerbi can have no complaints about the backing from the Tottenham Hotspur board this summer and he will soon be under immense pressure if the results cannot be improved. Losing both Premier League fixtures and having yet to score a goal has just cooled some of the enthusiasm around this part of North London and a big month is coming up for the manager and the Tottenham Hotspur supporters.

They have made it through to the League Cup Third Round, although the draw to face Liverpool at Anfield will have dented belief in putting a strong Cup run together before Christmas. However, it is the Premier League where the desperation for positive results will really show up if Tottenham Hotspur remain one of the handful of clubs without a point after this round of fixtures is completed.

Tottenham Hotspur performed better last weekend in the 0-2 defeat to Newcastle United than they did when being crushed 3-0 at Brentford on the opening weekend of the season, but that was a low bar to pass considering how poor the first away performance of the campaign was. The defeat at the Gtech Community Stadium means Spurs have won 2 and lost 3 of the 5 away Premier League games played under this current manager.

James Maddison and Savio (the player formerly known as Savinho) are both hoping to be passed fit to travel to the East Midlands.

Head to Head

Nottingham Forest did not only beat Tottenham Hotspur in both Premier League games last season, but did so by the same 3-0 scoreline.

That means Nottingham Forest have completed the Premier League double over Spurs in each of the last two seasons.

Prediction

Last season, Nottingham Forest beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 in both Premier League fixtures and it is quite remarkable that four different managers were in charge in those two matches.

In fact, this fixture between the clubs on Saturday will mean there has been EIGHT different managers in charge in the last 4 meetings between Nottingham Forest and Spurs!

Oliver Glasner and Roberto De Zerbi are the latest names in charge and both will be needing to pick up some positive results between now and mid-March if that recent managerial upheaval at the two clubs is going to end before they meet again.

A single point has been earned between the managers through the opening two weeks of the Premier League season and there is a huge amount of improvement that can be seen. Both have been backed in the summer transfer market and that will mean expectant boards.

At least Nottingham Forest earned that point last weekend at Liverpool and that gives them something to build upon, especially when facing an opponent they have beaten four times in a row.

Nottingham Forest looked better going forward at Anfield, but they are still working on the new system used by Oliver Glasner and that will take some time. In the first couple of games they struggled in attack, but the first Premier League fixture at the City Ground against Leeds United saw very little between them.

Roberto De Zerbi was the first to admit that Tottenham Hotspur were downright awful in the opening 3-0 defeat at Brentford, but they gave as good as they got for much of the 0-2 home loss to Newcastle United. Once again the lack of composure/quality in the final third proved to be a letdown for Spurs, but they were better away from home last season and that is something that De Zerbi can point out when looking for a positive result.

Games here have been tough for Tottenham Hotspur, who are still integrating and gelling new players together.

That has to be a factor against a more settled Nottingham Forest squad, even if they are learning this system. Bringing in Daniel Munoz will help the home team and it feels like they are more likely to be able to build on the result last week and backing Nottingham Forest on a 'Draw No Bet' market looks a reasonable enough angle to take.
