Galatasaray arrive in good form after winning their last four matches across all competitions. Okan Buruk's side beat Konyaspor 0-4 away last Friday, following a 2-1 derby victory over Fenerbahce and an impressive 2-4 away win against Lille in the Champions League.
Their European campaign has been less convincing overall. Galatasaray lost 3-1 away to Sporting Lisbon and 1-4 at home to Barcelona before getting their first points against Lille. They have scored six goals in three league-phase matches, but nine conceded is a concern ahead of this game.
Victor Osimhen remains their main threat up front, while Yunus Akgün and Aleksey Batrakov have also contributed in attack. Playing at Rams Park should give Galatasaray an extra boost, especially after their recent run of improved results.
VfB Stuttgart
VfB Stuttgart arrive after a huge 2-4 away win over Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga. Ermedin Demirovic scored twice, while Jamie Leweling and Bilal El Khannouss also found the net. It was an excellent response after two straight Bundesliga defeats.
Sebastian Hoeness’ side have been much more consistent in Europe. They beat Viking 3-1 and Slovan Bratislava 0-3 before drawing 1-1 with Atletico Madrid. Seven points from three matches have put VfB Stuttgart among the leading teams in the Champions League league phase, and they have conceded just twice.
There are, however, two important absences. Angelo Stiller has an adductor injury, while Josha Vagnoman is also expected to miss out with a hamstring problem. Stiller's absence is particularly significant, as he has started all 12 of VfB Stuttgart's competitive matches this season and plays a key role in their midfield.
The Betting Verdict
This should be an entertaining game between two sides that have found their scoring touch.
Galatasaray have won four in a row and are dangerous at home, but their defensive record in Europe is far from convincing. VfB Stuttgart have been more solid in the Champions League and arrive after an excellent win over Bayer Leverkusen.
I like the combo bet of both teams to score and over 2.5 goals in this game. Both sides look very motivated - Galatasaray have good attacking quality to score, while VfB Stuttgart have scored freely in recent weeks. Both sides should find their chances, and I expect an open game in Istanbul.
