After a period of 8 years playing in 2nd and 3rd division Gaz Metan promoted to the Romanian Liga1. A team with small budget, this year they can only hope to avoid relegation. Medias made a huge surprise this year winning against Dinamo Bucharest in stage 8.
They lost their top scorer Cristian Bud, who signed with CFR Cluj in the winter transfer period. Another player who had an offer was Paul Parvulescu, Shalke 04 made a 1.5m euro offer but the club decided to keep the 21 year old midfielder until the end of this season.
