2012-10-27 - Stevenage vs Swindon Town
A Sports Betting Pick by ArmchairPunter
Football – England – League One
Saturday 27th October 2012 – Kickoff: 1500hrs
It’s another attractive fixture in League One at The Lamex Stadium as Stevenage take on Swindon Town on Saturday afternoon with both teams having serious designs on promotion one way or another.
Stevenage
Both teams probably wouldn’t look out of place in the Championship but of the two, I’d say that Stevenage were the more consistent and harder to break down, especially at home.
Stevenage have lost just the once so far this season which was an away defeat at Colchester a couple of weeks ago, but aside from that, they’ve won four of their last five league matches and currently sit in second place to leaders Tranmere Rovers.
Recent away wins at Notts County and MK Dons along with home wins over Scnthorpe United and Portsmouth have once again confirmed their promotion candidates status and I believe this time around they will be better equipped for promotion.
Their home record stands at 3-4-0 12/8 with leading scorers being Lucas Akins and Robin Shroot (both with 5 goals) and Akins has also chipped in with 3 assists. Greg Tansey (3 goals) and Luke Freeman (3 assists) have also provided valuable support, as The Borough again prove difficult to be beaten at home.
Swindon Town
Let’s look at Swindon Town now; if we sift through all the hype surrounding manager Paulo Di Canio and his various antics etc, we’ll see that the cold hard facts are that they often flatter to deceive and proof of this is one league win in their last five matches.
A 1-0 away win at Bury has been scant reward amongst losses against Colchester United at home and a 1-2 loss at Crewe along with draws against struggling Coventry City and Scnthorpe United. These are not results worthy of a promotion candidates’ tag and so I’ll oppose them in this fixture considering these recent results.
The Robins’ away record stands at 3-2-2 8/9 and despite Matt Ritchie (5 goals, 2 assists), Jim Collins and Rafaele De Vita (3 goals apiece) along with assists from McEveley and Miller, they fail too often as a unit. and
The Betting Verdict :
Stevenage still remain unbeaten at home and to be offered close to 2.00 for the round ball on them with a good chance of winning the match is a risk very much worth taking in my opinion.
I’ll back a strong Stevenage outfit at home here instead; could be a 1-0 home win for The Borough.
The Pick :
Stevenage 1-0 Swindon Town
