Tsitsipas who is 20 years old is expected to rise to the top if the ATP list in the coming years. No doubt his opponent who is almost twice his age will be his biggest test. His first tournament this season started in the tournament in Sydney, where he went all the way to the quarter finals, before losing out to A. Seppi.
Last season was the best for Tsitsipas. He won his first ATP title last season and that happened in Stockholm where he managed to beat E. Gulbis in the final. He also won the tournament for young tennis players held in Milan. In the final he managed to defeat A. de Minaur after a great final.
He also managed to reach the final of the Masters in Toronto where he was beaten by R. Nadal.
Roger Federer
Roger Federer is 37 years old and he is aiming to defend the title he won here last year. The fact that he has managed to beat players twice his age shows how much he is enjoying his tennis and still can play at the highest level. In last year's final he managed to defeat M. Cilic in the final.
He came to the Australian Open as the number 3 player in the world. Last seaosn he managed to change the number one position with Rafa Nadal a few times before at the end of the season Djokovic took iver as the world number 1. Prior to the Australian Open, he didn't play any ATP tournaments. As his age is catching up on him, he admits that he now choose the tournaments carefully before the Grand Slams, so time will tell if his decision to skip the tournament in Sydney and Brisbane or even in Doha will have affected his preparations.
In the last three rounds, he managaed to defeat S. Istomin, D. Evans and T. Fritz without dropping a set.
