2009-11-22 - Dundee United vs Celtic
A Sports Betting Pick by Stephen
Dundee United v Celtic
Sunday 22th November – Kick Off 12.30pm
Dundee United (4th) Home Record W2 D1 L1
Celtic (1st) Away Record W4 D1 L1
Celtic Manager Tony Mowbray will be without several key players for their trip to Tanadice to face Dundee United this Sunday. Artur Boruc, Scott Brown and Shaun Maloney will definitely miss out through injury, Glen Loovens went off injured at Falkirk in their last outing and could also be missing while Captain Stephen McManus is suspended following his red card against Hearts in the CIS Cup.
This will only make a tricky outing that bit tougher for Celtic. United have given them a tough time in the previous few seasons. Last year in 5 games between the clubs, 4 of them were draws and one ended in a 2-1 win for Celtic in May in a game they were quite lucky to win.
The two sides also met in the CIS Cup Semi Final which went to penalties and Celtic winning an incredible shootout 11-10. The Tanadice club had also reached the final the previous season only to lose to Rangers also in a penalty shootout.
Celtic's form has been a bit indifferent but they still top the SPL. Their last game ended in a 3-3 draw with Falkirk and Celtic's frailties in defence were once again highlighted. They have conceded 11 goals this season in 11 games which along with Motherwell is the worst record from the top 6 sides in the SPL at this stage of the campaign.
Dundee United do have good firepower up front with Danny Cadamarteri and Damian Casalinuovo both on 4 SPL goals for the season so far and will cause problems for a shaky Celtic defence. They also have Francisco Sandaza and Jon Daly to come back from injuries in the coming weeks which will increase the competition for places up front.
Boss Craig Levein will be very pleased with United's season so far. They have been beaten only once in 10 games and sit only 5 points behind Celtic with a game in hand. A few weeks back their game with Rangers was abandoned at half time while losing 1-0, due to the weather. However Levein's side were by far the better side missing several chances. I expect them to run Celtic close again on Sunday.

VERDICT
Dundee United are well capable of getting a result here.
A draw is very likely at 13/5 in Paddy Powers but as the main bet I like the 10/11 available for the double chance of Dundee United to win or game to be a draw.
