Champions League
2009-11-24 - Arsenal vs Standard Liege
A Sports Betting Pick by Cruiser
Analysis:Arsenal can book their spot to the last 16 of the Champions League when they welcome Standard Liege to the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners thrashed AZ Alkmaar 4-1 earlier this month and needs just a point from their last two games to secure qualification.
Arsene Wenger will want his men to finish the job against Liege and secure top spot with a win ahead of the trip to second-placed Olympiakos in two weeks time.
Wenger will also be keen to rebound from the 1-0 defeat to Sunderland last weekend which left Arsenal eight points behind leaders Chelsea now. Surprisingly, the defeat to Sunderland was the first time that Arsenal failed to score this season. They will continue to be without the services of strikers Robin van Persie (ankle) and Nicklas Bendtner (groin) for this match as well.
Abou Diaby (calf), Gael Clichy (back) and Johan Djourou (knee) are sidelined as well, while goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski (knee) is still out. However, Kieran Gibbs is back from a foot injury and Theo Walcott could start after making an appearance from the substitutes' bench last weekend.
Liege are currently third in Group H and need to beat Arsenal to ensure they will be in control of their last match. The Belgian side could be knocked out if they do not pick up a win, with Olympiakos two points ahead of them. The bad news is they are coming into this match missing the likes of Steven Defour (foot), Cedric Collet (broken toe) and Mohamed Sarr (hamstring).
Serbian star Milan Jovanovic has also been ruled out with a thigh complaint, while a broken toe means Igor De Camargo will be out of this clash as well.
