Analysis:

Napoli will aim to keep their fantastic run going. They have had good runs against the likes of Fiorentina, Milan, Juventus, Lazio, Parma and Sampdoria so this encounter on paper should not be too much of a problem for them.

Livorno on the other hand seems happy with where they are now after a poor start to their campaign. However, Serse Cosmi will want a few more wins in order for his side to break into the top 10.

Livorno will have to do it without rising star Antonio Candreva though after he has secured a loan move to Juventus. It will be interesting to see how the team react without him here.

For Napoli, with Ezequiel Lavezzi injured it will be German Denis leading the line but he showed no fear in Week 19 as his goal helped them to a hard fought 1-0 win over Sampdoria. So, after last weekend’s 0-0 draw with Palermo Deniswill want to get his name on the scoresheet again to prove his worth in the absence of both Lavezzi and the suspended Fabio Quagliarella.

Livorno will be eager to bounce back after their crushing 3-0 loss at Cagliari. Cosmi will demand a tighter defensive display this weekend against Napoli.

The last time the two clubs met, back in August, Napoli ran out 3-1 winners. The previous Serie A meeting on Livorno’s turf came in February 2008, Napoli again running out winners – that time with a 2-1 scoreline. That defeat was more of a heartbreaker for them, given that the winner came deep, deep in stoppages time.

Livorno have a few injuries issues to deal with as defenders Leonardo Miglionico, Dario Knezevic and Fabio Galante, as well as midfielder Nico Pulzetti, are all unavailable due to injury.

For Napoli, long-term injury lay-off Fabiano Santacroce is joined by striker Lavezzi on the treatment table after the Argentine’s recent hamstring pull against Sampdoria. Meanwhile, midfielder Leandro Rinaudo joins striker Quagliarella in serving a one game suspension for this match.
