Primetime Performers

AFC :
Finishing the season with four of the top five defences, there will be a mass of talent protecting the AFC end zone, headed by the linebackers.

Ray Lewis (twice) and James Harrison having both been past winners of NFL Defensive Player of the Year and Elvis Dumervil lead the league in sacks this past season. Solidifying the middle of the field, it will be a long day for slot-receivers and tight-ends.

NFC :
Adrian Peterson should be on the field at the Pro Bowl this year and with his presence come a stabilizing force. His style of speed, power and breaking tackles will be on display, especially since the game is known for a lack of big time hitting.

After rushing for 122 yards and three touchdowns last weekend in a losing effort against the New Orleans Saints he should be ready to eat up more ground and finish the season on a winning note.

X-Factors

AFC :
Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson was arguably the biggest x-factor in the league this past season. Finishing the season with 10 offensive plays of 40 plus yards he is a threat to score at any time. With a chance to play alongside fellow Titan Vince Young, named as an injury replacement, the chemistry between them could lead to some big plays.

NFC :
The young receiving trio of DeSean Jackson (23 years old), Miles Austin (25) and Sydney Rice (23) have the ability to break a game wide open. All three had career years and have the quickness and flat-out speed to make plays and find the end zone. With 28 combined receiving touchdowns and each surpassing 1,150 receiving yards, there will be some very happy quarterbacks on the NFC side

The Matchup

A good handicapper can see that the NFC has the edge in this game because the conference boasted a better depth of top level offensive teams. With four of the top six offenses in the league, the NFC team has better depth of talent and with the mass of replacement players in this year’s Pro Bowl; it will be put to the test.

Of the 86 players named to the AFC and NFC rosters, 12 are injured, not including Brett Favre and numerous other players who were roughed up during last weekend’s conference Championships. Another 12 are participating in the Super Bowl, and obviously will not play.

If Favre ends up being too banged up to play, five of the six quarterbacks chosen will not be playing. That being said, the league is not short on skilled players and that will be on display when the replacements take the field.

NFL betting pick:

The NFC should easily win by more than two points and in a game that has all of the players available from the top-17 defences and lacking at least four of the chosen six quarterbacks the under is looking good.
