Football: Russian Premier League
Sunday, 15th August 2010. Kickoff 19:20
The high-profile Moscow derby will kick-off at an extra-ordinary time for Russian Premier League. The game itself can be called off if the weather conditions are considered harmful by the officials (head referee). Ongoing forest's fire in the central part of the country can send some gallons of smog towards the capital.
I've mentioned all of Lokomotiv's and Spartak's ongoing problems in my previous posts, so there's no reason to repeat myself over again. It's more interesting to examine if either of the two sides is making any effort to improve the situation. Lokomotiv has been quite on the market this summer. The only big name from their short-list is Artem Milevskiy (Dynamo Kyiv), but it's been a year now that Loko's been attempting to bring the talented striker to Moscow.
A week ago Railway boys had another disappointing outing in Samara where local Krylia Sovetov is giving a hard time to any opposition. Loko's top scorer Aliev was suspended from the fixture and without their main weapon team-mates struggled to creat anything worthwhile in attack. Furhermore Loko was finished the match in numerical disadvantage after Duimovic and Torbinsky were subsequently dismissed. The game ended 0-0, a draw which pleased no one.
Spartak spent their time in Estonia as smog-covered Moscow squeezed them out of the country. Spartak-Zenit fixture was postponed and Red-Whites could comfortably work on their inexpressive form.
Spartak gave its' fans something to cheer about without entering the pitch - the Aiden McGeady transfer saga finally came to a happy ending. Irishman put pen to paper under a personal contract, while Celtic agreed a reported 12 mln. Euros fee. McGeady is seen as the main cure for critical wing-play problem.
Betting advice
I think we have reasons to expect a high-scoring affair in this one. Lokomotiv's been constantly conceding in virtually every game since the championship resumed in July. Such sides as Sibir,Rostov and Anzhi all found their way past Loko's back four.Furthermore just 1 match out of last 7 finished under 2.5 goals between these two sides.
If you badly need to make a side-bet, I'd recommend going against Lokomotiv. Spartak can simply smash the opponent due to higher pulsebeat.
