ST. LOUIS CARDINALS

The Cardinals have been having problems lately, and have fallen 3.5 games behind the Cincinnati Reds in the NL central, but tonight looks a great opportunity to change that following their 2 losses to Pittsburgh.

Chris Carpenter is the Cardinal ace on the mound looking to snap his team out of their recent 3-7 slump. Carpenter is 5-1 since the AL break with a 1.99ERA. St. Louis has beaten Washington in 13 of their last 15 matches, including the last 6 straight.

WASHINGTON NATIONALS

The Nationals are in worse form than the Cardinals, getting swept here by the Cubs at home. They're on a 0-4 run, scoring a rubbish 5 runs in total. The offence doesn't exactly have a good record against Carpenter either. Zimmerman and Dunn, probably the best Washington have to offer have 5 hits combined in 34 at bats against the Cardinals ace.

Jordan Zimmerman pitches tonight and this is his first MLB start since he undergoing surgery last August. Although a decent pitcher, he will be up against the big hitters from St. Louis who will be looking to break out after their recent losses.
