Saturday 28th August 2010 – Kickoff 3pm
Joint leaders Oldham Athletic will be hoping to extend their unbeaten early season run to four games when they entertain Yeovil Town at their Boundary Park Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The race is on however, for ground staff to make emergency repairs to a section of the ground following a suspected arson attack last weekend. Fans who are usually located in those sections will be relocated on a temporary basis.
Oldham Athletic (2nd)
The Latics will be looking to transfer that disappointment into another winning performance, as they have made a good start to this new campaign; a 2-1 away win at Tranmere Rovers was followed up with another victory 3-0 over new comers Notts County, whilst grabbing a valuable point at The Valley against Charlton Athletic 1-1.
Goals are coming from the midfield via Dale Stephens (2) and Dean Furman (2), whilst at the back they’ve conceded just 2 goals so far. Early days but they are the side with the momentum at the moment.
Midfielder-turned-defender Jason Jarrett is missing for this match due to suspension, while fellow defenders Sean Gregan and Phil McGrath are still sidelined through injury, as is striker Lewis Alessandra.
Yeovil Town (15th)
Visitors Yeovil Town started their season off brightly enough with a 2-1 win over Leyton Orient, but have suffered two straight defeats since then, losing 2-1 at Bristol Rovers then a 0-2 reverse at home to Hartlepool United – a bit of a surprise defeat.
But it’s their away form that needs to improve if the Glovers are to make an improvement on their 15th place finish last season – they have won only once in their last seven away matches (a 3-1 win at Stockport County in April), scoring 5 goals and conceding 9. Their away stats last season read 4-7-12 19/33, and they will be keen to improve those stats this time around.
The Glovers have midfielder Jean-Paul Kalala back from suspension, and striker Luke Freeman is set to return following a leg injury.
The Betting Verdict :
Oldham Athletic have found renewed inspiration and confidence in their new manager Paul Dickov, and with home advantage and their good start to the season, I have to lean towards them in this fixture.
