Bistrita is yet another team that decided the coach is responsible for the disappointing results (despite not investing almost anything in the summer transfer period) and sacked Laurentiu Reghecampf. The new coach is Nicolae Manea who sit on the bench of Rapid Bucuresti in the previous season.

His arrival could be considered fortunate, as Bistrita who are struggling in the championship, managed to progress in the Romanian Cup 1/8 stage after eliminating Unirea Urziceni.

Steaua Bucuresti (6th W-6 D-3 L-3)

Steaua will try to interrupt their negative streak, having now 3 consecutive losses away from home. In the previous season they were the best team on the road but now they are only 8th with a 2-1-3 record.

The only explanation is the frequent staff changes, Marius Lacatus is their 4th coach this season. They started off with Victor Piturca, followed by Ilie Dumitrescu and Edi Iordanescu. The last one was just a provisory solution be he still counts.

Despite being the club that seemingly made the best investments in the summer transfer period (transferring Unirea Urziceni’s top players) it is not showing off on the pitch as their game is still suffering. The only game in which they made a nice impression was on their travel to Vaslui when they outplayed one of the best teams from the league and won 3-0.

Winger Banel Nicolita and central-defender Geraldo Alves have both 3 yellow cards so far, so if they will get booked they’ll miss the upcoming derby against Rapid Bucuresti. Cristian Tanese is suspended for this game.

The Betting Verdict

There is quite a lot of pressure around this game, Bistrita are in a desperate need of points and it seems they are not capable of bringing points from their travels, so if they lose at home as well than they will have a hard job avoiding relegation.

Steaua on the other hand is aiming for the title this season, but they are 7 points behind Otelul and 3 points behind Rapid, both still having to play this stage. They cannot afford to lose contact with them, because if they do, a defeat in the upcoming stage against Rapid could leave them far behind.

I am not expecting to see many goals, Steaua haven’t convinced me and probably haven’t convinced their own supporters either, but they are lucky to have striker Bodgan Stancu who’s goals came as a blessing every time. He is the top-scorer of the league with 10 goals so far.

Despite having two quality forwards, Bistrita have difficulties when it comes to scoring goals, they failed to do it on their last 3 home games. Under these conditions I think Steaua could edge this one, at odds around 2.1.
