Napoli is now at 22 points after their win yesterday while Inter and Juventus have 17 and 16 respectively. Meaning, whichever side loses this derby will fall behind in the scudetto race, and both will fall behind in the event of a draw.
Inter got used to being at the top for a very long time, almost two full seasons, and now they got a mountain to climb. The team doesn't seem as dominant as last season, as there were no new impact players added so it's the same old team. It's a fantastic one still, just a bit stale at this point. One thing they certainly lack are the reserve forwards, which renders Inzaghi's usual substitution of both forwards around the 65th minute impossible. This hurts the team in that game as well as in the long run.

Juventus just lost 0-1 at home in the Champions League to Stuttgart, and this was in fact their first defeat of the season. No one saw that coming. But this Juventus side has lots of deficiencies, Thiago Motta didn't magically change anything. The side still struggles to score, and only in rare occassions they manage to score more than once.

Acerbi and Calhanoglu are out for Inter. Juventus is in even more trouble as they're without Koopmeiners, Nico Gonzalez, Douglas Louiz and Milik. Thuram will be on the bench, and the only offensive player on the bench will be Yildiz.
The Betting Market
Inter is a 1.87 favourite, which sounds a bit ridiculous right off the bat, as this isn't Bologna or Lazio on the other end, it's Juventus that conceded exactly one goal so far in the league. In a watertight game you can't bet on that 1.87, as it's questionable if there will be goals at all. One-goal games can go either way.
That being said, there's a lot of value in betting on Under 2.5 Goals for 1.80 and in betting on Both Teams To Score: NO at 1.90.

All of the six last Serie A meetings, as well as two last cup meetings, have ended with less than three goals. This is an obvious trend and it won't change now. Italian derbies either have one goal or five, and the Inter v Juventus derby usually is of the low-scoring kind.
Juventus played three derbies this season. Roma 0-0, Napoli 0-0, Lazio 1-0. Inter is more prone to high-scoring derbies but they too can tighten up, as was the case in the 1-0 win against Roma and the 0-0 in Europe against Manchester City.
Juventus is coming here to defend and try to win it with a single goal, again, and this season they're even better at defending than they used to be, because they keep a lot of possession. Motta's team is a walking Under bet, especially in derbies. They'll want to keep this watertight. Don't be surprised if the game has no goals at all.
