Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich surprisingly failed to win their last two Bundesliga games, losing to VfL Bochum 2-3 and drawing 1-1 against Union Berlin. It has been a long time since they had gone three games winless, and this game looks perfect for bouncing back and starting a new winning streak.
Bayern Munich has a six-point advantage over Bayer Leverkusen, which is decent, but there are eight games left. It’s too early to relax, and I believe the Bavarians will be alert and motivated now.
However, Bayern Munich lost two important players during the international break. Alphonso Davies and Dayot Upamecano got injured playing for their national teams during the break and are unavailable for selection.
Davies’s injury is much more serious (cruciate ligament tear), which led his agent to directly blame the Canadian head coach Marsch for it. The injury will prevent Davies from playing for several months at least.
St.Pauli
Surprisingly, St. Pauli has the third-best defensive record in the Bundesliga, allowing only 30 goals in 26 games.
There haven’t been many scored goals in St.Pauli’s matches – all their last seven Bundesliga games ended with under 2.5 goals.
St.Pauli is five points above the relegation zone, with a better goal difference than the last three teams. That gives them some room for comfort, but they are far from safe.
The good thing for them is that they still have games against teams from the bottom half, so they hold destiny in their own legs.
St.Pauli struggled in their recent away games, failing to win in their last three trips (two defeats).
The Betting Verdict
Bayern Munich has rarely won convincingly or early in the first half this season. They usually start their games slowly, which is strange and different from some previous seasons.
However, I believe they will be highly motivated to win after two lowly teams (VfL Bochum and Union Berlin) snatched points from them in the last two rounds.
Maybe they will not score a lot, but a couple of early goals should set the tone for the game. Back Bayern Munich to win at half-time and full-time.
