Preview
As soon as the League Cup Group Stage was drawn, Hearts would have been set as big favourites to move through the section into the Second Round. They have crushed the two most dangerous threats in the Group and Hearts should cruise through to the next Round barring a couple of really poor performances/results.
They can ease any concerns by securing another victory as Hearts are once again placed in the late Saturday afternoon slot.
Back to back wins over Dunfermline Athletic and Hamilton Academical have given Hearts control of the Group, but the impressive 4-1 and 0-4 wins will only have boosted the confidence of the squad. The schedule will also suit Hearts as they conclude their Group Stage during the week and that will give them a little less than two weeks to prepare for the opening Scottish Premiership fixture.
Hearts have been scoring goals for fun in their return to the League Cup Group Stage and they are big favourites to beat Stirling Albion this weekend.
The League Two club have lost both Group matches played against Hamilton Academical and Dumbarton and the main ambition for Stirling Albion may be finding a way to score for the first time this season. This is obviously going to be very difficult against the top Seed in the Group, especially as Stirling Albion have also been beaten 0-3 by Raith Rovers here last season.
Stirling Albion have won 5 of their last 8 home games in all competitions, but the exceptions have all ended in defeat. They have actually lost their last 2 here either side of the off-season, while Stirling Albion have lost their last 2 home games against Hearts by the same 0-2 scoreline.
The most recent of those meetings came in July 2021 in the League Cup Group Stage.
Prediction
Hearts will be disappointed that they missed out on European Qualifiers, but they are making easy work of this League Cup Group Stage.
Even with some changes to the starting eleven to give the squad a chance to get some competitive football under the legs, Hearts should still be too strong for a League Two host.
Stirling Albion have struggled for goals in this section and that may be the case again on Saturday.
