A Sports Betting Pick by FootyGaffa

Aberdeen v Dunfermline
Football : Scottish Premier League
Friday 30/09/2011 - Kickoff 19.45 (local)

Aberdeen

Aberdeen will host Dunfermline in the inaugural "Friday Night Football" in the SPL. Still can't really work the idea out as the game doesn't appear to be on TV and lets face it I doubt there will be many away fans getting out of work early to making the trip up to Aberdeen for a 19.45 KO.

Anyway, Craig Brown will be looking for a seriously improved performance from the last home game which saw them crash out of the League Cup to 2nd division East Fife. A result which the manager has described as one of the most embarrassing in his career, maybe a bit harsh but he did decide to rest 6 players for the match which Aberdeen really can't afford to do against anybody.

In the league though Aberdeen have now gone 3 games unbeaten at home and there are signs that they are starting to get a lot more solid now they have their injured players back. There are, however, doubts over Ricky Foster who has been struggling with a bruised ankle and also Osbourne who injured himself in the warm up last week. Fraser Fyvie is back from duties with the Scotland U19s though and could slot straight back into the team.

Possible Aberdeen lineup :
Gonzalez, Jack, Considine, Mawene, Foster, Milsom, Fyvie, Pawlett, Arnason, Vernon, Fallon (4-4-2)

Dunfermline

I'm starting to get a bit worried about Dunfermline, from what began as a fantastic start to the season they are now currently in free fall and cant buy a win. They have now gone 5 games without a win and their defence is starting to leak badly every week. Recently shipping 4 goals to Rangers, 2 to Hibs, 3 to Kilmarnock and another 4 to Motherwell. So it seems that maybe that winning mentality from the newly promoted team has well and truely been burst.

Dunfermline have no new injuries to speak of but we may see the manager change the formation to give some support to the defence. Craig Easton is back fit and he may well be played in a 5 man midfield with just Andy Kirk as the lone striker.

Possible Dunfermline lineup :
Gallagher, J Thomson, Dowie, Keddie, McCann, Graham, Mason, Burns, Cardle, Easton, Kirk (4-5-1)

THE BETTING VERDICT

I'm really liking Aberdeen here, they are just starting to get a bit of home form in the league sorted out as Dunfermline have lost their form all together. Dunfermline's only win in Aberdeen this decade came back in 2003 (8 visits ago).

Aberdeen will be desperate for the 3pts as they are currently sitting just 1pt above the relegation spot.

The Pick :

Aberdeen 2-1 Dunfermline
