2006-10-21 - Saturn Ramenskoe vs Rostov
A Sports Betting Pick by Jason Kidd
SATURN
Saturn are having a very solid season. They only lost 4 times during 24 league games. They could easily be in the position for the medals at the moment, however it's simply impossible with 13 draws these days, when u get 3 points for a win.
Still, qualification into UEFA Cup or at least Intertoto cup will be a good resulst for Saturn.
Despite Amkar Perm ending Saturn's 10 games unbeaten run last week-end, I must say that Saturn are still in very good form. Amkar have improved lately under the guidance of Rashid Rahimov, yet Saturn dominated the match.
Saturn played a very good possession game with enough chances being created. Although they were a bit unlukcy not to convert.
Amkar was quiet during the whole 90 minutes, but after Saturn introduced 3rd striker with 10 minutes left the hosts got a chance on the counter. Volkov was brought down near the area, and Paramonov scored from the free kick. That was the only chance of the game for Amkar.
Prior to Amkar's game, Saturn looked even more impressive in a 2-2 draw against CSKA - a game Saturn feel they should have won.
What I like the most about this team is their midfeild. Jashin, Igonin and expecially Vukcevic, Chesnauskis and Eremenko are very creative. All are in good form and I expect them to dominate the center of the park tomorrow.
Regular keeper Kinski will be serving a ban, but veteran Chizhov is a good alternative.
ROSTOV
Now Rostov seems to be in very good form at the moment after winning 4 games in a row it the league. (that might be a club's record). But let's have a close look at their opponents in these games.
They beat Dinamo Moscow and Torpedo Moscow who are struggling all season long. They trashed poor Shinnik (yes, I tipped Shinnik that time), but Shinnik simply gave up that time after their player was sent off early in the game.
Last week Rostov defeated Tomsk - the team wich have big financial worries at the moment. Rostov will have no such luck tommorow.
They key factor of this game to me is motivation. Saturn are not only determined to play in Europe next season, they also want to win in front of their fans after unlucky loss in their last match.
Now Rostov have simply nothing to play for, as they have already reached their goal (to stay in the top flight).
HEAD TO HEAD
Moreover, the history is on our side as well:
May 06, 2006 Premier League : Rostov 0-2 Saturn
Jul 30, 2005 Premier League : Rostov 0-0 Saturn
Apr 03, 2005 Premier League : Saturn 2-0 Rostov
Mar 16, 2005 Cup : Saturn 0-0 Rostov
Mar 09, 2005 Cup : Rostov 1-2 Saturn
Sep 19, 2004 Premier League : Rostov 1-2 Saturn
Apr 25, 2004 Premier League : Saturn 2-0 Rostov
THE VERDICT
With Saturn are not only simply the better team - they are more motivated as well and playing at their home soil, I can't see Rostov taking anything from tomorrow's game.
