International News :: World Cup U20 - Now for the knockout stages - Round of 16

After a group stage awash with drama and emotion, the focus now switches to the Round of 16 at the FIFA U-20 World Cup Poland 2019.

The knockout phase kicks off with a much-anticipated meeting between Italy and Poland. Runners-up at the most recent UEFA European U-19 Championship, Italy have impressed with their solidity so far, conceding just one goal in three games.

As for Poland, they got off to a difficult start with a loss to Colombia, before soaring to victory against Tahiti and holding Senegal to a draw. With passionate supporters spurring them on, the host nation have shown they have what it takes to go far.

The second game of the day promises to be a fascinating clash of styles as Colombia take on New Zealand. The South Americans have been one of the most attractive teams to watch, thanks to an approach based on movement and technique, and their sole slip in the group stage was a 2-0 defeat by Senegal.

The Kiwis are absolutely buzzing, meanwhile, despite a 2-0 loss to Uruguay in their most recent outing. Boasting a style of football that is quick and direct, this New Zealand side look well equipped to progress – after exiting at this stage in the two previous editions.
