MLB Baseball News :: The AL dominates inter-league play again

This latest round of inter-league play between the AL and NL simply underlined what most people already now about the MLB scene.

The American League is dominating baseball.

Since 2004, the AL has gone 826-641 in regular-season games, 4-0 in All-Star Games, 13-4 in World Series games.

This season's games added up to a 149-102 superiority for the AL - one Interleague game remains on July 10 as the makeup for a Yankees-Pirates rainout.

The disparity this time is truly remarkable, and almost across the board: Only two AL clubs (Toronto and Cleveland) had losing Interleague records, and only three NL teams (the Mets, the Reds and the Braves) out of 16 finished on the plus side.

The good news for baseball is that the fans love it - since Interleague Play began in 1997, the AL-NL matchups have drawn 12.5 percent more fans than intraleague games. Over that period Interleague Play has averaged 33,250 compared to 29,563 for intraleague games.
