Ten-man Wolfsburg suffered their first defeat of the season with a 1-2 loss at Karlsruhe on Sunday.

The home side went in front through Massimiliano Porcello's 53rd-minute goal while the dismissal of Grafite 20 minutes later added to Wolfsburg's woes.

Sebastian Freis then made it 2-0 to the hosts with Ricardo Costa's reply nothing more than a consolation. Wolfsburg remain eighth in the Bundesliga standings while Karlsruhe move up to 14th.

Second from bottom Eintracht Frankfurt remain the only team without a win in the top flight following their 1-1 draw with Arminia Bielefeld in Sunday's other match.

Things could have been a lot worse for Eintracht, who had trailed for much of the match to Artur Wichniarek's eighth-minute strike until Benjamin Kohler grabbed an equaliser three minutes from time.

Hamburg went to the top of the Bundesliga on Saturday sealing a 1-0 win over Borussia Monchengladbach courtesy of Mladen Petric's 11th-minute goal.

Bayern Munich continued to struggle under new boss Jurgen Klinsmann as they slipped to their second consecutive league defeat, 1-0 at Hannover.

Previous leaders Schalke fell to a 1-0 defeat at Cologne on Friday night.

Ten-man Werder Bremen scored five for the second successive weekend as they squeezed past Hoffenheim 5-4, despite throwing away a 4-1 lead.

The hosts were winning at a canter as goals in the first half-hour from Mesut Ozil (eight), Claudio Pizarro (16), Diego (30) and Aaron Hunt (30) were met only by Demba Ba's 15th-minute reply.

Sejad Salihovic pulled a second back nine minutes before half-time, though, and Bremen collapsed after the break.

A 61st-minute penalty from Vedad Ibisevic made it 4-3 and Bremen's Per Mertesacker was sent off a minute later, before Marvin Compper grabbed what had seemed an unlikely leveller after 71 minutes.

There was time for one final twist, though, with Ozil grabbing his second seven minutes from the final whistle to deny Hoffenheim a well-earned point.

Bayer Leverkusen held on for a 3-2 win at Bochum.

Arturo Vidal (six) and Renato Augusto (21) put Leverkusen 2-0 up early on, and that became three just after the hour mark through Patrick Helmes.

Bochum mounted a late comeback with Stanislav Sestak (79) and Sinan Kaloglu (80) netting within a minute of each other, but their hopes of snatching a point were dashed when Anthar Yahia was given his marching orders four minutes from time.

Elsewhere, goals from Tamas Hajnal (11), Felipe Santana (20) and Alexander Frei (75) gave Borussia Dortmund a 3-0 win over Stuttgart, while Energie Cottbus won 1-0 at Hertha Berlin thanks to Branko Jelic's 13th-minute strike.
