Spanish La Liga News :: Can Atletico Madrid bounce back in derby against Real?

Atletico Madrid will be determined to put a turbulent week behind them when they entertain city rivals Real in the Primera Liga on Saturday.

Atletico face the club's biggest game of the season to date after a 6-1 hammering against Barcelona in their final match before the international break so nothing less than a victory will do against their arch-rivals.

A home win for Atletico would lift Javier Aguirre's side to within a point of Real and will give some gloss to what has been an underwhelming start to their domestic campaign.

On Thursday Atletico had a three-match European stadium ban overturned by UEFA pending an appeal, bringing a temporary reprieve to the club after days of uncertainty over where next week's Champions League game with Liverpool would be played.

The ban - together with a 150,000-euros fine - were handed out after crowd trouble flared during the Champions League match against Marseille at the Vicente Calderon on October 1.

Meanwhile, Real midfielder Ruben De la Red has warned his team-mates to guard against complacency against a potent Atletico line-up.

"The Vicente Calderon crowd always puts a lot of pressure on opponents," said De La Red. "Things won't be easy for us, but this motivate us players; it makes us want the three points even more.

"They have a great squad, especially in midfield. They are all capable of turning the game around with one single attack."
