German Bundesliga News :: Hertha Berlin continue their stay at the top of the Bundesliga

Hertha Berlin restored their four-point advantage at the top of the Bundesliga with a 1-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen.

Andriy Voronin's goal in the 50th minute proved the winner and gave the Ukraine forward, on loan to the Berlin club from Liverpool, his 11th of the season and eighth in the last six Bundesliga games.

With their 10th straight win at home, Hertha jumped to 49 points and have a four-point lead over defending champions Bayern Munich and Wolfsburg.



Wolfsburg are in 3rd place with a 4-3 win over Schalke on Friday night, while Bayern Munich reclaimed second place winning 3-0 at Bochum with an impressive display.

Ze Roberto put Jurgen Klinsmann's men ahead in the 32nd minute with Philipp Lahm adding a second on the hour mark and Martin Demichelis sealing the win in stoppage time.

Bayern could even afford to miss a penalty through Lukas Podolski after Marc Pfertzel was sent off for fouling Jose Ernesto Sosa inside the penalty area five minutes into the second half.

Hamburg kept alive their Bundesliga title challenge with a 2-0 victory at home over Energie Cottbus on Sunday. Ivica Olic scored Hamburg's opener in the 32nd minute with Piotr Trochowski adding another seven minutes later.

The victory ended a two-match losing streak for Hamburg, who move in 4th, but level on 45 points with both Bayern Munich and Wolfsburg - four behind leaders Hertha Berlin.

Hoffenheim have fallen further off the pace after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Eintracht Frankfurt, surrendering the early lead given to them by Carlos Eduardo in the 10th minute as Michael Fink levelled two minutes after the break.
