Manchester United will definitely be without defender Nemanja Vidic for the crucial match against West Ham following his recent concussion.

However, striker Wayne Rooney (hip) could be fit to start on the bench and Patrice Evra, who was stretchered off at Barcelona in midweek, will start.

"Vidic is not fit for Saturday as with concussion you are out for 10 days, but he should be fit for next Sunday," said manager Alex Ferguson.

"Rooney has given himself a chance but I don't know if he will start, maybe he will be on the bench. There has been a lot of improvement in the lad and the bruising on his hip has broken up, but we will still have to see whether he can make it. "

West Ham expect winger Julien Faubert to have shaken off a slight hamstring problem to be fit to start.

However, Freddie Ljungberg (rib) has been added to the list of injuries.
