Manchester City have drifted out to 8/1 for the UEFA Cup after suffering a 3-1 defeat away to Hamburg in the first leg of their quarter-final.

Stephen Ireland slotted the visitors ahead after just 35 seconds but Manchester City were then constantly under pressure.

Joris Mathijsen headed Hamburg level before Piotr Trochowski converted a penalty after Micah Richards' handball. Jose Paolo Guerrero fired in from close range at the far post to put the German side in the driving seat.
