UEFA Cup News :: Dick Advocaat : We will attack Bayern

Zenit St Petersburg coach Dick Advocaat has promised his team will attack Bayern Munich in the same way they did their Bundesliga rivals Bayer Leverkusen in the UEFA Cup semi-final first leg on Thursday.

The Russian champions shocked Leverkusen with a 4-1 win at the BayArena in the quarter-final first leg - a result the German outfit never recovered from - and Advocaat believes he has the key to unlocking the Bayern defence too, particularly since the expectation levels will be so high for the home team.

"We know if you play a team like Bayern, in their home, they have to win - they must win the game - and everybody expects them to win, so it is easy for us to play," Advocaat explained. "We showed it against Bayer Leverkusen. We tried to pressurise them early and make the game difficult for them and we will do that again tomorrow."

Zenit not only stunned Leverkusen, but sent a shockwave through European football by reaching their first ever European semi-final a fortnight ago.

Having come so far in the competition, Advocaat now wants his side to take the next step by defeating the tournament favourites, who went so close to being eliminated by Getafe at the last-eight stage.
