World Cup News :: Spain qualify for World Cup 2010 with 8th straight win

Spain coach Vicente del Bosque reflected on a ‘good day' for his side after seeing them book their place at the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa finals.

Spain had not secured their ticket to South Africa despite seven straight wins, but after second-placed Bosnia-Herzegovina drew with Turkey earlier, the European champions Spain knew a win over Estonia in Merida would be enough to guarantee themselves qualification for South Africa by locking up the top spot in Group 5.

And Spain duly obliged, making it eight wins from eight after downing Estonia 3-0 on goals from Cesc Fabregas, Santi Cazorla and Juan Manuel Mata.
