Arsenal made the most of Saturday slips by the Premier League's top sides by winning 2-1 against Liverpool at Anfield.

Liverpool were on top in the opening 45 minutes, however, and there was little doubt that Liverpool deserved their 1-0 lead at the interval.

Four minutes before the break, Steven Gerrard's free-kick was not dealt with by goalkeeper Manuel Almunia and Dirk Kuyt poked in the rebound.

The second half was a different proposition, though, with the London side levelling within five minutes of the resumption when Samir Nasri's cross was nudged past his own goalkeeper by Glen Johnson.

Eight minutes later and the Gunners had completed the turnaround, Andrei Arshavin rifling an effort in off the upright as the hosts again showed hesitancy at the back.

The Russian international had scored four times in a 4-4 draw on his last visit, but that one strike proved enough to seal victory and leave Liverpool stuck in seventh, with their sixth league setback this term.
