The bottom-versus-top meeting in the Berlin ended all square on Friday as Hertha BSC Berlin held Bayer Leverkusen to a 2-2 draw.

That scoreline gave the other Bundesliga hopefuls plenty of motivation on Saturday to try and close the gap at the top of the table.

Schalke moved second by earning an excellent 2-0 success at Werder Bremen, while Bayern München rose to third by routing struggling hosts VfL Bochum 5-1

Hamburger SV beat Nurnberg 4-0 on their travels while Borussia Dortmund are sixth and just five points from the summit after downing champions VfL Wolfsburg 3-1.
