Europa League News :: Liverpool to play Europa League game without Gerrard or Torres

Liverpool have travelled to Turkey without captain Steven Gerrard and striker Fernando Torres for their Europa League play-off second leg against Trabzonspor on Thursday.

Gerrard has a back problem after facing Manchester City, while manager Roy Hodgson has elected to not risk Torres in a third successive game following his injury problems last season.

However, both players are expected to be fit for Sunday's Barclays Premier League clash with West Brom.

Defender Daniel Agger (concussion) and Maxi Rodriguez (illness) are also missing from the squad which travels to Turkey this morning with a 1-0 lead from the first leg.

It seems that The Reds are not making the Europa League a priority this season.
