Spanish La Liga News :: Real Madrid held by Almeria, Barcelona cruise to another win

Real Madrid dropped two vital points in the Primera Division title race after being held to a 1-1 draw by rock-bottom Almeria at the Estadio de los egos Mediterraneos.

Almeria had taken a shock lead through Leonardo Ulloa, and Madrid grabbed a 77th-minute equaliser from substitute Esteban Granero.

Cristiano Ronaldo almost earned Madrid the victory in the last minute but his ferocious free-kick from the edge of the box came back off the underside of the crossbar and the spoils were shared.

Barcelona thrashed Malaga 4-1 at the Nou Camp to extend their lead to four points at the halfway stage.

Andres Iniesta, Villa and Pedro gave Barca a 3-0 lead at the interval and the Catalans always looked comfortable, despite Duda's second half free-kick.

Villa added his second six minutes after that as Pep Guardiola's side cruised to their 13th successive league win
