English Premier News :: Manchester Utd fall, Chelsea lose to Liverpool, as EPL title race closes up

Manchester United lost 1-2 at bottom placed Wolverhampton Wanderers despite grabbing an early opening goal.

Nani's third-minute opener seemed to put the Red Devils on a path to open a 7-point gap, but George Elokobi equalised with a header and then scored a second goal with the final touch on a Nenad Milijas 40th-minute free-kick.

Arsenal tossed away a four-goal lead as Newcastle staged an incredible comeback to draw 4-4 at St James' Park.

The Gunners made the perfect start when Theo Walcott gave them a first-minute lead, and it was 2-0 inside three minutes when Johan Djourou headed home Andrey Arshavin's free-kick.

Robin van Persie made it three in the 10th minute and the Dutchman headed in his second and Arsenal's fourth 16 minutes later from a Bacary Sagna cross.

Abou Diaby was dismissed in the second half after reacting to a challenge by Joey Barton, who pulled one back for the Magpies from the penalty spot soon afterwards. Leon Best cut the gap to two goals in the 75th minute.

Barton scored a second from the spot before Cheik Tiote's long-range volley completed a stunning recovery by the Magpies.

Chelsea might have purchased Fernando Torres, but they still could not beat Liverpool as Raul Meireles sealed a memorable 1-0 for the Reds at Stamford Bridge.

Meireles hooked home from close range after 68 minutes to take the game - and probably any lingering title aspirations - from the big-spending Blues.

It was a different story for £50m Torres though, with the most expensive player in British football history hauled off after 65 unremarkable minutes.

Liverpool are still priced at 8.00 (7/1) at Eurobet for a top-four finish though ... as the Red are in 6th place - six points behind 4th placed Chelsea having played one game more.
