Portsmouth claimed a valuable point away from home at Derby County in last weekend’s Championship action after holding The Rams to a 1-1 draw which followed on from a welcome 2-1 home win against Blackburn Rovers at Fratton Park.

The south coast hosts still continue to hover just above the relegation zone though where they hold a slender two-point cushion over third from bottom club Oxford United, and having picked up just two wins in their last 12 games in the Championship, Pompey look decidedly fragile heading into this encounter.

John Mousinho’s side have been dealt seven defeats within this period along with being involved in three draws as well, while an away record of 4-2-5 11/12 is too inconsistent to back the hosts for the three points.

QPR bounced back from a previous 3-1 loss away from home at Middlesbrough in the Championship last weekend with a comprehensive 4-1 thrashing of Leicester City at Loftus Road, making it five wins from their last seven matches in the domestic second tier.

However, only one of these five wins were collected away from home which came in the form of a 1-0 victory at Ewood Park against Blackburn Rovers while the other four wins were all registered in the nation’s capital.

Results away from home have also been questionable for a side who sit just one point outside of the play-off pack as The R’s possess an ordinary looking record of 4-2-5 12/19, so the prospects of an away win at Fratton Park do look to hang in the balance.
