Mainz have already shown they can score against anyone, but their defense has made life difficult.

They are winless at home, losing their last two with 1-3 to Eintracht Frankfurt and 3-4 to Bayer Leverkusen.

However, they won 0-1 away to Schalke 04 last weekend, with Phillip Tietz scoring the only goal and Mainz keeping their first clean sheet since the opening weeks.

Urs Fischer's side have scored 14 goals in six Bundesliga matches, so there is little reason to expect them to sit back at home. Tietz has been key to that attack, and his goal against Schalke 04 took his league tally to five.

The concern is what happens when Mainz lose possession: their recent high-scoring defeats showed how quickly games can get away from them.

Werder Bremen have developed a habit of making games harder than they need to be. That run is remarkable, but Daniel Thioune will want his team to stop giving opponents such a head start.

Niclas Füllkrug has been central to those recoveries. He scored both goals against SC Paderborn last week and has netted six times in his last five matches.

Werder Bremen have scored 12 goals in six Bundesliga games, and their attack looks capable of troubling Mainz.

The other side of Werder Bremen's recent form is just as important: they have conceded in five of their six Bundesliga matches.

Both defenses have given up too many chances for me to trust either side to keep the other out. At this price, I think both teams scoring is the better angle than picking a winner.
