Chelsea
Chelsea are hanging onto life in the Champions League by a slender thread at the moment and even a win on Wednesday night not be enough to send them through.
The current European Champions are eliminated regardless of their result if Juventus beat Shakhtar Donetsk or that game ends in a draw. However, with the way Chelsea are playing it's hard to make a case for them to beat Nordsjaelland even at Stamford Bridge.
In the 2 previous home games Chelsea drew with Juventus (2-2) after taking a 2 goal lead. Then against Shakhtar a last minute Moses winner was enough to see them win 3-2. The good news for Chelsea fans is their home record generally is excellent in this competition winning 7 of their last 8.
A concern is that in both their home games this season the opposition has scored 2 on both occasions. However, the Danes are not in Juve or Shakhtar's class and you would think despite all their problems this is going to end in a home win.
FC Nordsjaelland
Nordsjaelland are rock bottom of Group E with 1 point to their name. The Danes can't qualify for the knock stages and trail 3rd placed Chelsea by 6 so not even a Europa League place beckons for this year's debutants.
Hjulmand's side have taken a point against Juventus at home after a battling 1-1 draw but all 4 other games have ended in defeats. In their last game against the Ukrainians Nordsjaelland took the lead twice only to lose 2-5 after a very controversial Adriano goal but the performance was a good one.
When visiting Juventus and Shakhtar the Danes lost both (4-0 & 2-0). So 2 defeats and both to nil isn't great but against a Chelsea side that has leaked in 4 in 2 Champions League home games they could have some success.
Betting Verdict
Chelsea are favourites to win at a tiny 1.10 price and you seriously need your head testing to back this team at such prices.
Benetiz hasn't won in 3 games now with 2 draws and a defeat. The Danes are by far the weakest opposition that the Blues have faced and it's a must win game for them.
That being said I don't think Chelsea will dominate their opponents. I expect them to win but this could be closer than it looks. In the last 9 Chelsea home wins in Europe going back to 09 on only once has the side won by more than 3 (Genk 5-0 2011).
I'm going to chance it that Chelsea win by 2 or 3 here which gives a much better price than the fixed market and I don't trust this team to cover over 2 goals at home so that eliminates the asian bet.
A fear is the Blues don't win or labour to a 1 goal win but so far in the other 2 games for Noedsjaelland away from home both home teams have won by 2 or more and I see that continuing on Wednesday.
Good Luck
