When Nigeria faced Burkina Faso in group action a fortnight ago I felt there was value in the 1.80 price, but we are now getting 2.10 on the Super Eagles to win this match, the tournaments finals. I realise that game ended 1-1, but Nigeria have steadily improved, and look an incredibly dangerous side going forward.
Nigeria have made amends for failing to qualify for the last tournament, but Burkina Faso have overachieved, as they crashed out last year with 3 losses, without even a point. So to be in the finals is a massive achievement. They only just scraped through though. Ghana held them 1-1 and the game was decided in penalties, with Burkina Faso pulling the upset.
Nigeria could only draw 1-1 against them earlier, but that was the tournament opener, and the nerves have now settled. They got here thanks to a 4-1 battering of Mali, which came after another solid win, 2-1 against Ivory Coast and 2-0 over Ethiopia. I fancy them to score at least 2 here again, and do not feel their underdog opponents can match that. Indeed, Traore, who grabbed the late equaliser for Burkina Faso in that opener, is ruled out of this match.
The Super Eagles have a a couple of Premier League big shots amongst their ranks. Both Victor Moses and Obi Mikel ply their trade at Stamford Bridge. Their main striker, Uche, who plays for Villareal, had 3 goals in qualifications, and will be a solid threat here once again.
THE BETTING VERDICT
Emmanuel Eminike will be the main threat once again. In 3 games, he has opened the scoring to give Nigeria the lead, and he has scored in 4 of his teams 5 games, making him the man to watch and maybe back in the first or anytime goalscorer markets.
We're getting even better value this time around on the Nigerian win, and I think they get it done to complete redemption at missing out on the last tournament.
