Introduction:
Augsburg has surprised many and they are currently in the middle of the standings. However Eintracht Frankfurt is an even better revelation as they are playing wonderful football and occupy fourth place with five points more then the hosts. In the second part of the season, Augsburg made a win, draw and defeat, while Eintracht are unbeaten with two wins and a draw. They are in a run of six matches without defeat at the moment and are also in the quarter finals of the cup.
Augsburg
Despite failing to win in their last two matches they can be proud of what they have achieved this season. They are in the middle of the standings and are even closer to the european positions. They are also safe from the threat of relegation. They have gone two matches without a win since beating Hamburger at the start of the second half. Firts they lost to Borussia Monchengladbahc by 2-0 away from home and then they drew with FC Cologne 1-1 in their last match away from home.
They were helpless and failed to score against Monchengladbach and went down 2-0 while they were losing against Cologne but they managed to score towards the end to rescue a point. Coach Baum played with the same team in the last two games but he is now forced to make changes as center-back Gouweleeuw is out injured and his place will be taken up by Danso. Also out will be midfielder Khedira due to two yellow cards collected which means that Moravek will now come into the starting lineup.
Eintracht Framkfurt
Eintracht is playing well and are now into the positions that leads to the Champions League. At the start of December they lost their last match before the break against Bayern Munich despite giving a good resistance. Since then they have made two draws and four wins, one which was from the Cup, where they will now play in the quarter finals.
It should be noted that they are better while playing away from home. They have been beaten just once on their travels this season and that was at the end of September last year when they lost to Leipzig by 2-1. All of their five defeats this season have been by a slim margin.
In their last match they won at home after nearly three months failing to do so when they beat Borussia Monchengladbach by 2-0. They had luck on their side as the visitors missed a penalty and two rounds before that they won easily in Wolfsburg. They played with the same team in those two matches but now coach Kovac will have to make changes as Rebic misses out through suspension, which means that Jovic will now feature in the starting lineup.
